Hey guys,
I've come today for a reality check. Just wanted to get some perspectives at my chances at breaking into these schools and whether I should shoot for the moon.
My Profile
- Currently in the final year of my law undergrad degree, UK Non-Target school for MBA but reputable law program (think KCL, Bristol, Durham).
- 62% average, which translates to roughly a 3.4 GPA in the US. Confident that I can bring this up to at least a 68% as I haven't applied myself for previous years but that will only matter for future apps.
-780 GMAT.
- Work experience includes 3 internships at top/mid-tier Asian law firms, and 1 at a startup.
- Plenty of extra-curricular activities (sports, business and law related) and leadership experiences. Spent 2 years in the military before my current degree.
- Strong LORs
Dream is to end up in Silicon Valley in some management capacity so HBS / Stanford would be the fastest track. Two plans right now:
- Plan A (the realist): apply for MiM programmes in LBS / LSE, take some certifications to buff up my quant background like the CFA, brush up my final GPA to something respectable like 3.7+. Secure internships at more globally reputable firms in consulting / IB. Then either apply for HBS/Stanford deferred at that point, or spend two years in consulting / IB and apply for them directly, and include schools like Chicago, Kellogg, Tuck, MIT in my list.
- Plan B (the dreamer): apply for HBS / Stanford right now.
Realistically speaking I'm going to apply for MiM programmes either way. But I am considering whether also try Plan B and to spend the time and effort writing essays, and getting my recommendor to write another LOR, for the HBS 2+2 / Stanford deferred programmes. Gotta be efficient with my time this year as I'm cramming like crazy to raise my GPA.
So. People. What are my chances? Come at me!
