Hi Everyone,
Firstly I'm not expecting a binary answer on this, but where is better than WSO to solicit diverse feedback full of intellect to help support decisions!! :)
Also I won't pretend that I know exactly where my career trajectory is taking me next but let me tell you where it's taken me so far...
- Military - 4years
- Engineering - 4 years
- Finance (Project Mgmt) - Now (1year so far)
I have an offer to do the LSE MSc Finance (PT) but wonder whether it's the right choice when compared to an MBA. I don't have an offer yet for an MBA but I am considering applications to LBS/Imperial/Warwick.
I'm passionate about finance/tech and innovation.
I've basically studied for a number of years part time and have an undergrad in Engineering and Business from a non target school.
MBA Reservation thoughts...
- There are 10 MBA holders in my team alone and I think the market is flooded with them
- The general MBA courses (marketing, strategy, leadership etc) can be picked up via MOOC's and other places plus these course are so dynamic and the content is constantly shifting
- They cost a bomb!
- Are we still in the age of the generalist or do businesses needed people who have a sold grounding in specific discipline but who are highly adaptable to different scenarios.
Granted, I guess that an MBA will open more doors for me but really this comes down what (i) carries more weight and (ii) has a sold sustainable brand
Thanks in advance!
