I am interested in getting into the financial sector. Currently I work in engineering in the Oil&Gas sector, on the buying and selling of items for large projects. Its a pretty good gig but I have been interested in the financial sector. I am a prior service naval intelligence veteran and I like the planning and global aspect that I gained from that career. I have an undergrad in Supply Chain and Engineering and I am currently enrolled at Johns Hopkins for a masters in engineering. I am interested in their MS in Applied Economics with a concentration in Financial Economics. I am curious if it is worth switching over to the econ masters program or should I stick with engineering? Either way, I feel that I will still graduate from a good school. I also really like the engineering masters program, my only concern is of the value that it will carry.
So the question is...Which degree is better in your opinion as a masters degree? Is engineering valuable, as it shows the quant side or is financial econ a good choice as well due to its focus?
