I am looking to get an MBA to transition into Investment Banking. I came from a top 20 state school (still non target) had a 3.35 GPA majoring in finance. So not great by Wall Street standards. I was a top athlete and played professional for about a year and started working as a financial analyst for a publicly traded firm (not related to banking). I am a typical white male from a good background... I scored 560 on my first practice GMAT without any practice..
Is it uncommon for someone with my initial score to get up to around 700-710?
Also, is my background strong enough to get in a top program with my undergrad school and GPA?
I want to get a decent understanding of my potential to get in before I study for a year and my background is not strong enough or its not possible to really gain 150 points on GMAT
