Just graduated with a very sub 3.0 cumulative GPA in the humanities (the artsy ones) from a top 10 school. Major GPA is above 3.0. Went through some family and health problems for some time, but now that they are back under control, I'd like to move on. Because of above problems, no relevant experience.
With the current GPA, formal post-bacc programs which have a 3.0 min. are off the table. I'm interested in getting a masters of finance/economics, but I guess this question is just for getting any masters in general. I don't think I could get into anything directly. If anyone has any advice about splitters, please share. From searching around the various forums, it seems that I should build an alternative transcript, but there aren't exactly lists of top schools for just taking classes. Ideally, I'd prefer to take classes at the best school that will let me register and not at a random community college so that I could get into a decent masters program. Practice gmat ~700, could improve. Didn't take a practice GRE yet.
Where did you/someone you know take classes or which schools should be checked out? Do you have any experience with the alternative transcript -> masters experience?
Any suggestions for the best places to get job experience with low stats? Volunteering/working without pay at a pwm branch is a suggestion I've seen. Or other advice. Thanks in advance to the people who take the time to reply.
